The short version. Clearo has no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. It collects the minimum needed to show wait times, and none of it identifies you personally. We never sell data.
Who we are
Clearo ("we", "us") is an independent app that shows estimated passport-control (EES) wait times at Schengen airports. This policy explains what data the app handles and why. If you have questions, email hello@clearo.me.
What we collect
- Anonymous app session. When you open Clearo, the app creates an anonymous session so it can save your pinned airports and submit reports. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or Apple ID.
- Wait reports you submit. If you report a wait, we store the airport, whether it was arrivals or departures, the wait length you chose, and a timestamp. Reports are anonymous and shown to other travellers in aggregate.
- Approximate location (only if you allow it). On the report screen, the app can use your device location to find airports near you, so you don't have to search. Your location is used on your device to pick nearby airports and is not stored against your identity or sold. You can decline and search manually instead.
- Flight number you look up. If you use "My Flight", the flight number is sent to our flight-data provider to fetch that flight's schedule and status. We don't build a profile from it.
- Optional notifications. If you turn on busy-time alerts for a pinned airport, your device receives a push token used only to deliver those alerts. You can turn them off any time.
Clearo does not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and it contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that track you across apps.
How we use it
- To show live and predicted wait times, and to aggregate traveller reports into a single estimate.
- To find airports near you when you choose to report (if you granted location).
- To look up your flight's schedule when you use My Flight.
- To send the optional busy-time alerts you opt into.
- To detect and limit spam or abusive reports and keep estimates trustworthy.
Service providers
We use a small number of processors to run the app. They handle data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — stores anonymous sessions, pinned airports, and wait reports.
- AeroDataBox (via RapidAPI) — provides flight schedule and status data for My Flight lookups.
- Apple Push Notification service — delivers optional alerts to your device.
Data retention
Wait reports are retained to power current and historical estimates; because they're anonymous they cannot be traced back to you. Pinned airports and settings persist for your anonymous session and are removed if you delete and reinstall the app or clear its data.
Your choices
- Decline the location permission and search for airports manually.
- Turn notifications on or off in the app or in iOS Settings.
- Delete the app to end your anonymous session. To request deletion of any data associated with your session, email hello@clearo.me.
Children
Clearo is rated for all ages and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the new version at this address.
